Special stays abroad – valid for all countries

In addition to stays in countries for which checks abroad are possible, personnel security screening (PSS) with an overseas component are conducted if, during the examination period, the person being screened:

  • Completed an official assignment abroad under bilateral or multilateral agreements on privileges and immunities (i.e., official missions with diplomatic status – see Privileges and immunities).   • Completed assignments as employees in international missions such as Frontex, Swissint, UN or UNOPS. For information and required documents, see information sheet on data collection “Deployments for international missions”
  • Was abroad for up to 15 months and resided in Switzerland or in a country for which foreign checks are possible prior to the stay abroad, for the following purpose:

    • Work for a company headquartered in Switzerland (Central Business Name Index) or for a FINMA-authorised company. For information and required documents, see information sheet on data collection “max. 15 months Employment/Education”
