State Secretariat for Security Policy SEPOS

The State Secretariat anticipates security policy developments and develops strategic options for action for the attention of political leaders. It coordinates the security policy instruments within the Federal Administration and, together with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and other interested organisations, ensures international cooperation on security policy issues. SEPOS also manages the three special services for Information Security, for Security background investigations and for Industrial Security.

President Amherd meets with Brazilian President Lula da Silva in Geneva

President Viola Amherd met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Geneva on Thursday. The talks focused on bilateral relations between Switzerland and Brazil and differing perspectives as to how to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

Swiss president meets Portugal’s president and prime minister

President Viola Amherd met Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro on Wednesday, 12 June. The talks in Bern focused on the countries’ close bilateral relations, European policy, the upcoming summit on peace in Ukraine and cooperation between Switzerland and Portugal at multilateral level.

Nepal’s President Paudel pays courtesy visit to President Amherd

The Nepalese president Ramchandra Paudel paid a courtesy visit to his Swiss counterpart Viola Amherd on Wednesday 12 June. Switzerland and Nepal have maintained diplomatic relations since the early 1950s. On Wednesday, both sides recognised the friendliness of the relations between their two countries, their successful development cooperation and the potential for bilateral exchange.
